DC SLAP Represents in Miami

IMG_0931.jpg Wearing bright yellow t-shirts reading "Burger King exploits farmworkers," over 1,500 members of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW)and their allies - including DC-based leaders and activists -- marched through Miami last Friday, November 30, to demand that Burger King work with the CIW to raise farmworker wages and address sweatshop conditions in the fields.

DC JwJ Honors Our Allies at Fifth Annual "I'll Be There" Awards

The event was held at the Samuel Gompers' room at the AFL-CIO, with Gloria Minott of WPFW serving as Master of Ceremonies. Over 150 labor, community, faith and student activists attended, and DC JwJ raised over $10,000 to support our work over the coming year.
