Labor in the Pulpits, Labor on the Bimah, Labor on the Minbar

Labor Day weekend, Friday August 29 to Monday, September 1, congregations across the Greater Washington area will participate in Labor in the Pulpits, Labor on the Bimah, Labor on the Minbar. Your congregation can participate in a number of ways:

  • Invite a congregant to speak about his or her work or involvement in the labor movement.
  • Have a speaker from outside the congregation – a worker struggling for a voice on the job; a labor organizer; an economist, lawyer or other expert – address our congregation.
  • Talk with a member of the Interfaith Worker Justice planning committee about ideas for our program and available resources.

In addition, we can provide the following resources:

  • Information about what scripture and our faith tradition teach about workers’ rights
  • Information about campaigns for social and economic justice that are going on in our area
  • Information about how our congregation can get more involved in supporting workers in our community
